BOOSTER MEMBER & BOARD CODE OF CONDUCT

The DMHS Girls Basketball Booster Club is built on a foundation of sportsmanship and community. When you pay your membership fees or serve on the Board, you are agreeing to represent Desert Mountain High School with class. To ensure our players can focus on the game, all members agree to the following standards.

BOOSTER MEMBER & BOARD CODE OF CONDUCT

The DMHS Girls Basketball Booster Club is built on a foundation of sportsmanship and community. When you pay your membership fees or serve on the Board, you are agreeing to represent Desert Mountain High School with class. To ensure our players can focus on the game, all members agree to the following standards.

1. Game Day Conduct (The "Classy Wolf" Rule)

Whether we are at home or traveling to an away gym, our parents and members are under a microscope.

  • Officials & Refs: We have a Zero Tolerance policy for yelling at, berating, or following officials. We respect the game, regardless of the officiating.
  • Opposing Teams: We cheer for our Wolves, not against our opponents. We do not engage with opposing fans, players, or coaches.
  • Representing DMHS: If you are wearing our colors and sitting in our section, you are an ambassador for the school. Act accordingly.

2. The 24-Hour Rule

High school sports are emotional, but we do not make decisions based on emotion.

  • The Wait: Parents and members agree to wait 24 hours after a game or practice before contacting the coaching staff with concerns about playing time or strategy.
  • The Channel: Discussions regarding “on-court” matters should be held privately with the coach, not in the bleachers, the parking lot, or on the GroupMe.

3. Board vs. Bench (Roles & Responsibilities)

  • Coaching Autonomy: Members and Board officials acknowledge that the Coaching Staff has 100% control over playing time, roster spots, and game strategy.
  • Booster Focus: The Booster Club exists to support the program’s logistical and financial needs. We handle the “off-court” so the coaches can handle the “on-court.”

4. GroupMe & Digital Communication

Our GroupMe is a tool for logistics and encouragement.

  • Stay Positive: GroupMe is for updates on schedules, fees, and team needs. It is not a forum for complaining, criticizing players/coaches, or air conditioning grievances.
  • Privacy: Do not share internal team information or financial discussions (like Angel Fund details) outside of the program.

5. Board Member Specific Standards

In addition to the member rules above, elected Board officials are held to a higher standard of stewardship:

  • Financial Standing: Board members must be current on all booster fees to maintain voting rights and their seat on the board.
  • Confidentiality: Board members must maintain 100% confidentiality regarding Angel Fund applications and sensitive program data.
  • United Front: While board members may debate in private meetings, they must present a united front to the rest of the families once a decision is made.

Accountability & Consequences

Membership in the Booster Club is a privilege that provides your athlete with elite benefits (gear, meals, events).

  • Violation: If a member or board official consistently violates this code, especially regarding misconduct at games or with officials, the Board reserves the right to review their membership status.
  • Removal: In extreme cases, a member may be asked to leave the gym or be removed from the Booster Club (losing voting rights and booster-funded perks) by a majority vote of the Board.
